CARE AND RESTORATION

CHANGING THE TIP OF THE HEAD

The tip of the head, both in ivory or other materials, has not only an aesthetic function but is very important under the structural point of view because it reinforces a very delicate and fragile area. For this reason, when a tip is broken in some part, I recommend to replace it.

It’s fundamental when I replace the tip not to change in any way the originality of the head, and because it is a very delicate balance under a mechanical point of view, both in respect of the Author’s aesthetic choices. So this kind of work is very delicate and precise and requires special care to respect the inclinations of the mortise and the curves of the head.

I use only high-quality materials such as Mammoth, or fossil ivory, or silver, or gold, to respect the original one.
